...... will be taking to the stage on Friday, 7th December.
Be there to witness this historic occasion.
GENARO PROJECT - UNMISSABLE 23rd November 2007
'Genaro Project' are indeed unmissable. So if you did miss them at the Green Room last night, that was a serious blunder.
This band has great songs and lots of them - enough to make up two lengthy sets in fact.
Hooky and quirky and featuring excellent melodic guitar playing from eccentric front man, Si (Genaro).
Many wonderful sounds, the fave and most frequently employed being a sort of mellow fuzz somewhat reminiscent of early Jeff Beck.
Melodies from a faraway place, outer space even ...
JUJU MEN - NOW ON YOUTUBE September 2007
Five videos of the Juju Men are now available at YouTube.
They were both shot at the fabulous Poole Park Festival on Sunday, 26th August 2007.
Here are the links to two of them -
On The Road Again
Wait On Time
You won't be disappointed.
DOWN TO THE DOCTORS Saturday, 27th October 2007
Don't miss the unmissable Dr. Feelgood, supported by The Juju Men @ Mr. Kyps, Parkstone, on Saturday, 27th October 2007
IT CAME FROM JAPAN Monday, 6th August 2007
Where were you on Monday, 6th August? Not at the Green Room I imagine. If not, why not?
You missed a rare appearence from Tokyo Pinsalocks, a fabulous 3-piece, all girl band from Tokyo, Japan.
They looked good and they sounded good with their own brand of quirky, almost atonal, oriental electropop.
Of particular interest were the drummer who sat sideways and positively nailed the beat to the floor like a woman possesed, and the bass player who played weird and wonderful basslines through a fuzzbox.
Sorry, no photos of this gig. Must remember to take the camera next time (if there is a next time).
To find out more visit Tokyo Pinsalocks' own website or their space at 'myspace' .
PS - Perhaps electropop was the wrong word to use, electromadness might be more appropriate.
Try this youtube video for size.
You'll soon get the picture. Intergallactic ............
MEAT DRAW PLAY TO A FULL HOUSE Friday, 12th October 2007
The Green Room was absolutely packed with international students on Friday night for the Meat Draw gig.
The band were in excellent shape and played an extensive set consisting of a mix of originals and unusual covers from the late 70's/early 80's period.
Brilliant. And nice to see the Green Room heaving for once. An all too rare occurrence in recent times.
ANOTHER VENUE GOES DOWN THE PAN October 2007
The Stepping Stones in Broadstone is terminating live music at the end of October.
Neighbour problems, apathetic audiences, etc. Familiar tale really.
So don't miss the final appearence of The Juju Men at this venue on Friday, October 26th.
LIVE MUSIC IN THE HEART OF CHARMINSTER October 2007
Live music may be disappearing from the leafy suburb of Broadstone, but what is more important is that live music is rising up in the heart of vibrant, cosmopolitan Charminster.
The venue in question is the Richmond Arms right next to the main crossroads/traffic lights.
The current schedule seems to be live music every Friday & Saturday night. Check it out.
IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR Saturday, 28th July 2007
Don't miss the unmissable and highly influencial 70's soul/funk band, 'Sly & the Family Stone', appearing at the Opera House, Boscombe on Saturday, 28th July 2007.
I would be there myself but I am playing with Total Recall at The Seaview, Ashley Road, Parkstone.
Can't be in two places at the same time. Damn' !!!
BUS PASS Friday, 13th July 2007
Yes, Friday the 13th has an ominous ring to it but on that very night at Mr. Kyps the one and only Wilko Johnson came through with flying colours.
'I can collect my bus pass when I get back home to Southend' he jested. Yes, it was indeed Wilko's 60th birthday and there he was putting to shame musicians a third of his age.
Relentless energy laced with total lunacy, and the sweat was pouring by the bucket load.
Ex- Feelgoods guitar wizard, Wilko, gave the audience exactly what they wanted.
Despite a broken string and tuning problems he ploughed on like a true trouper.

RISING STARS Monday, 2nd July 2007
Rising Stars, Black Bart played a brilliant set as a finale to Conrad Barr's Solid Air night at The Green Room on Monday.
This band just get better and better, tighter and tighter. In their set are many highly memorable songs. What kind of music do they play?
I guess 'alternative country' is the best answer to that question, and to my knowledge they are the only guys doing this kind of thing in the Bournemouth area.
Check 'em out.
NEW VENUE - SEAVIEW Summer 2007
The Seaview, Ashley Road, Upper Parkstone is now looking for bands to play Saturday nights.
Call Rachel or Vicky on 01202 747179 to find out more.
Or better still come and see the ever popular
Total Recall play there on Saturday, July 28th.
Their definitive, swirling, overdriven version of the Rod Stewart classic, 'Maggie May' will amaze you, to be sure.

NEW VENUE - OUT IN THE STICKS Spring 2007
New venue for you to investigate - The White Hart, Sturminster Newton.
To date, don't know anything about it, but generally out of town venues tend be more insane, more edgy.
So, check out some seriously clanking retro R'n'B at this alehouse on Saturday, 26th May 2007.
I am referring to The Juju Men of course.
NEW VENUE - MR. C's April 2007
Strictly speaking, not a 'new' venue. More a legendary 'old' venue, re-inventing itself after a lengthy period of hibernation.
Twenty years ago, at a guess, the original Mr. C's played host to such acts as Dr. Feelgood and Steve Gibbons.
Now Mr. C's is back and the 'what's on?' listing looks pretty impressive.
In case you didn't know it, Mr. C's is located above 'Chilli's' late bar/club, opposite Poole bus station.
Also within easy staggering distance of Poole train station.
For full info visit the Mr. C's website.
And by the way, don't miss the excellent 'Funhouse' at Mr. C's this Sunday evening, May 6th.
It's free admission.
