for giving us this info.
Roj Agogo from old skool rhythm 'n' blues merchants, The Juju Men says, "Yeah, familiar tale. Another case of, "couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery, or should I say pub"".
Just checked out your version of "Rock And Roll Music" online.
Keep taking the tablets.
Plug in and go.

THE SLOOP - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED April 2011
Played at The Sloop last night with The Juju Men.

Just like it was back in those crazy days circa 1981. Excellent !!!

LAST MINUTE BOOKING 2nd April 2011
Good news for The Juju Men fans.
The retro rhythm 'n' blues men will be appearing at the Spyglass & Kettle on Saturday, 2nd April, replacing the previously advertised 'Thunderbirdz'.
This venue is highly recommended for its polished dancefloor, excellent beer, splendid barstaff, buzzing atmosphere, and last but not least, the high quality, high speed music on offer.

The Spotted Cow has now re-opened under new management.
Live music continues !!!
SPOTTED COW - SUDDEN DEATH !!! 10th January 2011
Looks like the 'Spotted Cow' on Poole Quay has gone down the pan.
Locked doors and dirty glasses standing unattended on the bar from whenever the pub was last open.
Just like the Marie Celeste in fact.
Shame to see such an excellent live music venue die.
Good luck to Tony and the crew wherever they may be.
Bad luck to all bands who have bookings there for 2011.
I guess they are all now null and void.
Welcome to dip no.2 of the 'double dip'.

DIRTY WATER - CLASSIC FOOTAGE Archive
Check out these two videos -
Dirty Water - Standells - 1966
Dirty Water - Juju Men - 2007
The latter version of the song is clearly based on the former version but there are some important differences.
The town 'Boston' has become 'Boscombe' and so naturally the 'River Charles' has become the 'River Stour'.
The Standells look pretty cool in their classic 60's stage gear. And check out their equipment.
Those Vox amps in the backline and that cheesey looking old-skool organ with chrome legs.
Excellent.
The Juju Men on the other hand appear decidedly scruffy in comparison, almost as if they have just wandered in off the street by accident.
The Fender Stratocaster played by rhythm guitarist/songer, Roj, appears to be adorned with two spindly aerials that gently wave in the breeze.
A pair of wire cutters would soon sort this problem out.
But what the hell, this is garage R'n'B, so who really cares?
Some more points of interest in the Juju Men video -
At the very start of the video MC/harp player, Hugh (centre stage) (no longer with the band), cannot resist directing a little sarcasm at the audience when he says, "We're the Juju Men. Check it out. Jujumen.com. That's really difficult to remember.".
Might be worth pointing out that the current URL for the Juju Men website is actually www.jujumen.co.uk.
During the first lead guitar break the cameraman, for some reason best known to himself, decides to zoom in on the basic fingerwork of rhythm guitarist, Roj.
Meanwhile lead guitarist Pete K, the guy responsible for this classic solo, remains invisible to viewers of the video.
During the second lead guitar break bass player, Pete B, can be seen having a good laugh as the fairly basic chord structure of the song goes pear shaped.
Worth pointing out that Pete is not the guilty party responsible for this cock-up.
Finally at the very end of the video, the dep drummer whose name temporarily escapes me, having played superbly throughout the main body of the song, gets caught out by the dead stop ending.
Thrills and spills - I'm sure you'll agree that the video is well worth a view.
MAGIC - DOING SOMETHING RIGHT 8th January 2011
'Magic' must have been doing something right last Saturday night at Newtown Conservative Club.
The small but enthusiastic crowd showed warm appreciation right from the first song.
It just goes to show that the unashamed three minute pop song will never die.
A fantastic time was had by all.
Don't miss their next appearence at Newtown Con' on 21st May.
Or catch them on 29th January doing a rare one-off gig at The Stourvale, Iford.

INSANELY HUGE REPETOIRE January 2011
Local band iCandi not only features a hot female singer but also an insanely huge repetoire.
Have you ever seen this band in action?
I caught them in the early days at possibly their second gig ever, at the now demolished 'Grange'.
I would describe that performance as shakey but showing great potential.
If you have seen them recently, send me your review.
It would certainly be of interest to our readers. So, keep in touch, folks.
